Pay It Forward
The purpose of this club is to help others, unknown to any of the members, and hopefully spread this concept exponentially. Recipients of the gifts helping three others, and those three helping three others and so on… will accomplish this. It may also grow by others experiencing the groups’ example of selfless giving and be moved to start their own chapter of Pay It Forward. These acts could change the world in a relatively rapid fashion.
Rules:
- A group will consist of no more than 10 members
- Each member will pay $500 upon inception and each year thereafter. This will be the total member contribution for the entire year. A member who leaves the group should not expect a refund. A new group can decide the amount per member at the time of inception of their new group.
- The money will be distributed according to the group’s wishes. The amount of the gifts will vary based upon the need as determined by a vote of the group. The number of gifts given will vary depending upon the monies available in the account.
- Once a meeting is set and all members are duly notified, any decisions made at that meeting will be automatically agreeable to the group. There is no required number of members present to take a vote and act upon it.
- There will be quarterly meetings, with extra meetings held when the group desires. If the funds are entirely used up for the current year, there will be no meeting, unless the group decides to have a social meeting.
- At the meetings members should bring a story of someone who would be an appropriate target of the groups’ gift. That person/family should be someone the members do not personally know, someone who appears to be trying to help themselves…making an effort to provide for their family/themselves. The recipient must be someone local (ideally from the four county area.)
- Recipient will be asked in return for the money, to help 3 other people/families who they do not know personally, who appear to be making an effort to help themselves/family. Help may be defined as an act of kindness which will help another with a need. It does not have to be monetary. The recipient will be given the movie “Pay It Forward”, and 3 packets, each containing instructions for their recipient of the gift they choose to give.
- There will be no follow up with the people helped. Members will go on faith that
recipient will use the gift to better their situation. We will give the recipient
instructions to contact us if they so desire.
- Members should have the following qualities: Able to put cause before ego, have
financial means for yearly dues without putting stress on their own family, to be true
to the cause of helping others without any recognition, and able to give with the total
faith that recipient will use the gift wisely.
- All members should view the movie “Pay It Forward”
- Publicity should keep members anonymous unless members vote on media
recognition by any member.
- When giving the gift, two members shall present the gift. The two members who
attend the presentation of the gift will be decided at the meeting prior to giving the
gift.
- A meeting can be called by any member via the internet or phone if any Pay It
Forward member has a story of urgent need that cannot wait until the next scheduled meeting. The time and date will be agreed upon by the members of the group. There must be a minimum of six members attending the scheduled meeting. If there are less than six members, no gift will be given. All six must be present, as phone agreement or any other form of communication other than being present at the meeting will not be counted in the six member minimum required to give a gift.
