Chris Morency, Laurie Barene, Pete and Kathy Concepcion, now founders of FavorsUnlimited.com were brain-storming one day to create a new website. One idea each of them kept coming up with was to help others in times of need. Even though they could not help everyone themselves, perhaps they could bring people together to help one another using the internet.

What has happened since they launched their website in April of 2000 is beyond their wildest expectations. The following post on FavorsUnlimited.com is what the founder's were hoping to achieve and what keeps them striving forward.

Hello. I live in Arizona, and am somewhat embarrassed to be asking for help. My problem is that I am loosing my eyesight to the degenerative- disease, Keratakonus. I am a 26 year-old, positive-minded, mother of two who is goal oriented toward becoming a published author. I am currently on disability for health problems I have had since birth, but as Keratakonus robs you of the ability to focus as opposed to limiting the field of peripheral vision, I do not meet Social Securities' definition of blindness and receive no eye care insurance benefits. My husband is a very hard worker who has worked six days a week, without fail, for the past eight years. Even still, we live paycheck to paycheck, and the 1,700 he brings home each month does not leave a dime to spare toward my eyes. I have tried seeking assistance from numerous organizations, and have managed to slip through the cracks of their criteria every time. I am certainly proactive, and am not sitting back waiting for a hand out. I have not had new glasses in three years, and can no longer drive. This past November, as a result of an appeal to Social Security, I was granted an appointment with an eye doctor. I was told that even new glasses are now of no use to me, and that I can slow down the progression of this disease by having special prosthetic "piggy- back" contact lenses made for me. This is where I need to find some form of help. The lenses will cost me between $500-$800. Without them, my right eye will likely require a cornea transplant in two or three years time. They have recently made new developments in the treatment of Keratakonus, called Intacs, which have been shown to halt the process in 95% of all cases, thus making it likely that I might never need cornea transplants. I believe that if I can get my special lenses now, I can preserve my vision long enough to receive Intac-implants within the next several years, as their price decreases and more developments are made. Any assistance -- such as pointing me toward an organization that may be of service-- would be more appreciated then you could ever imagine. Thank you for taking your time to read this.
Bright Blessings, Danna

We noticed the post and contacted each other because for some reason it touched us in a strange way. We brainstormed a little and decided to contact a famous local eye doctor and explain about our site and the recent post. No more than 5 days had passed since we contacted the doctor and
received this post on our site. WOW! That is what it's all about!!

Thanks to the extreme generosity, prayers, and concern of several people on this site, I am now able to get the special lenses I posted about under "People with Disabilities". This site is a true blessing, and allows miracles to happen every day!
