As
a native of Barrie, Ontario, Canada, I have had the priviledge to
come to know the Pay It Forward movement by its arrival in movie theatres
back in 2000. Since then, I have purchased Catherine Ryan Hyde's book,
and have been honoured to share the possibilities with others since.
I have
used it in the following ways;
1.. My fellow Canadians
will appreciate how we've put it into action at our infamous Tim
Horton's (Canada's own coffee and donut shop). While in the drive-thru
lines we have purchased the customer's order who is situated next
in line. As they drive up to pay for their coffee/donuts, they've
already been paid for. We drive away watching their reaction wishing
how it affected their day; priceless!
2.. As a model
for increasing customer service by doing favours for our internal
customers (employees), eventually flowing over to engage our external
customers (those that drive the business),
3.. As a 5-minute
presentation on the topic of our choice for a module during my Teaching
and Training Adults Certificate course to make people aware of the
magnitude at which our world could eventually become habitually
generous.
I would like
to extend my greatest appreciation for having the opportunity to
share this small addition to the movement and wonder how much enlightenment
and inspiration could touch the planet if we committed to initiating
the theory. Pretty soon, the human race would be continuously rejuvenating
the model. Please know that in Canada, it's working. We're "Paying
It Forward" in so many ways!
